Winter has come early here in the Northeast, which, for someone who hates snow and winter, doesn’t make me jump for joy. I am not a skier, haven’t ice skated in years and I can have hot cocoa anytime. Nine inches yesterday…and they are calling for more coming this weekend. *Sigh* I see no end in sight…and technically, it is not even winter yet!
So, I am transporting myself to this chair, waiting for me at the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. I could think of no better time to go. I knew this shot would come in handy!
So, where is your favorite spot to imagine yourself? You know, when life gets you down or stressed, when the weather is too hot or too cold. Where will you be? On the beach? Shopping? Horseback riding? African Safari? Do tell!

Nine inches and more to come! Poor you! I like snow and cold weather but I do not miss upstate New York winters.
When I’m stressed, I like to imagine the orchard room in the greenhouses at Longwood Gardens in PA.

Hmmm my happy place. I have a few, I suppose, depending on my mood. Sometimes I like to go back to my childhood bedroom, sometimes I go back to the Duke Gardens:

or even the library there, sometimes back to my apartment in Philadelphia when I’d have it all to myself, sometimes to the Philadelphia Museum of Art or the nearby Rodin Museum…even my old office at my last job in the States.
I have a lot of great memories, obviously, or I can find calm just about anywhere

KC~ Sounds lovely! Yeah your not missing much here in terms of the winter!! I’ll take Italy in the winter any day
Sognatrice~ Lucky you to find calm anywhere! Takes a little more imagination for me I think! Your places sound and look lovely! Thanks for the link

I can’t believe you hate snow and winter, yet live in the Northeast!

Tara~ I grew up here, so to me it is *home*
Tried California for awhile, but I am most definitely an East Cost Girl!!! My next move(if there is one in my future) will surely be to Europe..The South of France and Italy do not get too much of the white stuff

I hate snow and winter too! Unfortunately, we were also hit with snow last week, which then froze, and we now have patches of several-inch thick ice everywhere. The highest the temperature has been in 36°F, and the forecast is predicting more of the same.
My favorite places to be are: at home with my honey or in Positano (or anywhere in Southern Italy!).
Luckily, we escape to Southern California for the weekend several times during the winter, and while it doesn’t even come close to comparing to Italy, being able to go without a parka in January is heavenly to me!

On the beach, preferably Maui or Kauai!

I have never been amoungst snow but I imagine it would be lovely for the first hour and then the novelity would wear off as I really feel the cold.
When i am down (been alot this year) I imagine I live in a lovely apartment (yes , I “do” the furniture, drapes etc ) and I see myself shopping , walking my dog and eating here and there in Paris . Silly I know but it makes me concentrate on something other than my woes and I do have fun!
Now, if I could win a huge lottery – I know exactly what I am going to do ! LOL

Kathy~ Glad you are with me
Hmmm, Yes Positano is also a great place to *go* Thanks for reminding me!
I’ll add Fiji to your beach list too!
Kenju~ Have never been, but I sure woulnd’t refuse a trip there
Melinda~ Not silly at all!! It’s about what gets YOU through, not what anybody else thinks!! Yeah, and I have that lottery dream too, I’m just not much of a gambler

Warm, sunny days cheer me up, while cold cloudy weather kinda depresses me. I’m always very happy when I’m with friends in a cafe or restaurant overlooking the sea. Yesterday we were very fortunate to have very mild sunny weather, and we had a very leisurely lunch (our big meal of the day) in our favorite fish restaurant. We had reserved our usual table by the window and had a great view of the Mediterranean. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Living in Colorado, I love snow and adore skiing but in my mind, if I need to relax, I’d like to be in the apartment we rent near Notre Dame…it would be a cold, wintry Paris morning and we would be all snuggled up, listening to the bells of Notre Dame. In an absolutely perfect world, our dog would be with us too.

Chouzy~ I’m with ya! I always prefer a nice sunny day. I think that is why Northern California in the winter was no good for me. Sounds like you had a fun day
Angie~ Yep, great place to *go*. I hope a fireplace is in your vision..and some of the best French hot chocolate wouldn’t hurt either

Yes, the beach–where all my troubles seem so far away!
Also a little outdoor restaurant on the French side of Lake Geneva, where I can watch the sun shining on Lausanne, the swans, and the white boats. Sigh…
