My husband and I never had a bad meal at the "Aroma". Yes it is pricey and we only went for special occasions, but the food always seemed authentic Italian and reminded us of our travels to Italy. We have not been back in a while because we discovered that the Italian restaurant at the Culinary Institute Of America in Hyde Park NY called the "Ristorante Caterina De' Medici" offers the same experience for a better price. The students there are amazing, the atmosphere is great and we found a new restaurant for those special occassions. Too bad you had a less then satisfying experience.
