The bread and cheese do it for me every time :) There's nothing like European bread and cheese. Every time I'm away from Europe, I spend most of my time dreaming about baguettes and miserable I can't find one where I am that's edible :)

Amelie is one of my favourite films! I also watched a great French film a year or so back, I forget the name but I think it's recently been remade for an American audience and is now called Dinner for Schmucks - grossly inferior, from the trailer. Can anyone assist with the original French film title?

Hard to resist Amelie ;)

Love the photo of the Place des Vosges, where I lived in the proverbial garret room many years ago. I maintain my French connection in many ways (visiting France is the best one, of course). Here are just two: time and temperature.

In my kitchen I have clock, just from Target but cute , that says "Café de Paris." This clock is set to Paris time.

Every morning when I write in my journal I record the time in degrees Celsius. I have a "weather station" that switches between F and C with the touch of a button. I've gotten pretty good at nailing the temp in C.

What a great read. To keep my soul rooted I'm France. I spend much time reading French. I also enjoy preparing French meals. As always I keep my dress and attitude as continental as possible. A success I'd say as people are often surprised to learn I am not French.

Merci, Robin! Your blog and website make me feel right at home! You're so right - it's amazing how a nice glass of wine, some great cheese with a baguette, or even a cafe au lait with a croissant can fill one's soul with that wonderful, indescribable feeling that many of us discover after spending some time in France.

Given my last experience of Paris (http://unexpectedtraveller.wordpress.com/2009/05/25/admirer-in-waiting/), I like to adopt the attitude of the snooty waiters I met ... much to my better-half's annoyance! :-)
