Cafe Hopping

Hey thanks for visiting again, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed if you haven't already. Thanks for stopping by!

One of my favorite things to do in France is sitting at a cafe and just watching.  People watching, waiter watching, listening, seeing if I can make out what people are saying.  The best part is you can stay for as long as you like….and you won’t be rushed.  It is worth the *sometimes steep* price of a cafe creme and croissant or glass of wine and a tart…just to have an experience.  Oh, and don’t expect the waiter to bring you your bill.  You must ask.  Just say…"l’addition s’il vous plait" in a pretty sing-song voice…and voila!

This time out we visited our *neighborhood* cafe in the Marais, Le Dome.

and the historic La Palette on the Left Bank

And we chose the Cafe Deux Magot to watch life go by on Boulevard Saint Germain des Pres….I just love how all the logo is on the cup, saucer, sugar and even chocolate…

I saved a table just for you.  Won’t you join me?

Oh how I miss my daily cafe creme and the buttery flakey golden goodness that is called the croissant…and only Paris can get it right!

Glad you took the time to stop and appreciate the city’s delights, rather than always rushing about, as many visitors are apt to do. xo

    Tara,
I confess…that s what I did my first visit. I think everyone does. I always think ‘what if this is the only time I am in Paris my whole life…gotta see it all!’ But then I return and relax!

You seem to go for the plain croissants, right? Not me….I like to start out every morning in Paris with an almond croissant, which is simply to die for. I don’t even want to know how many calories are in one of those !!!

    Chouzy,
I like almond ones too :) I like them all. Yeah…I think that is called the *don’t ask, don’t tell* policy!!!

I enjoyed my morning cafe creme as well, oh, and the croissant…delightful!
Funny thing is that I had never read blogs before I went to Paris last fall so I didn’t think to take pictures of the treats I was eating. It didn’t occur to me, I was just savoring them in my taste buds and mind, but I could’ve brought home photos of them!
WHY OH WHY did it take me so long to get into blogging? The things I am learning! Now I will have to go back, just to stock up on photos of everything that inspired me, right down to the morning treats.
Thank goodness you are around, I can come here to remember the beauty…
    Thanks for sharing it!

    Melissa,
It is my pleasure to share it with you :) It’s readers like you that keep me goin’. I know, I wonder *why* about getting into blogging late…but everything happens for a reason. Maybe I didn’t have enough to say before…or maybe we will outlast the rest :)

I couldn’t agree more about cafes…in any part of the world they are a great people-watching place, thinking place, feeling-in-the-scene place!
