It’s been a while since we had some fun! So, let’s play.
Walking around Paris I always stop to admire the beauty around me. I love doorways, facades and the little architectural details on the buildings. While strolling to and from the Tour Eiffel, we walked along a street lined with lovely houses and apartments. You know, the kind where you can tell they have a little money because everything is just so pristine.
I spotted this lovely gem adorning the top of a window…
And this one…
And the best one….
And as I was taking this last shot, I noticed those little wires that seem to distract terribly from the beauty of the face. "Why oh why would they do such a thing?", I asked myself. "What in the world are they?" And then, as if Edison himself switched on a light bulb in my head…I had an *ah-ha* moment. I figured it out.
We don’t see these where I am from, but I am sure they are all over Europe. I am sure that many people know what they are…but I am interested to see what you think, dear reader, just the same.
What do you think they are? Why are they there?

I don’t know why they are there. But I love the faces! And, not to distract from your topic, but the other face I love is your puppy’s face! I think I mentioned before that I have a Westie, but I have to ask, does yours SMILE a great big toothy grin at you like mine does? Mine gets so happy when we come home. he smiles. But then he gets embarrassed and tries to wipe his smile off. Westie’s are the best.

Melissa,
Westies are the best! That is too funny about yours smiling when you come home. Speaking of smiling…I just put a “puppy love” photo allbum on my sidebar. It only has 4 pic’s right now, but have a look! She is smiling in one of the photos. Click on it and it gets bigger. She smiles when she is laying down and we rub her tummy…and she smiles when she is outside, but not when we come home. For that she runs around in circles at our feet like the tazmanian devil!!! You should send me a photo of Winston…I’ll see if Madison wants a boyfriend

Are they so that pigeons don’t perch and poop?

Lovely photos. It’s such fun to take a visual trip through Paris. Are the wires there to keep the pigeons from landing and soiling the sculpture?

Anne…
You are soooo thoughtful! I am sure you know the answer. Hey…maybe they should make portable ones so you could have had one the day you went to Printemps! LOL

I saw these for the first time in Paris 7 years ago – its to stop the pigeon poo distroying the building and the statues etc! Works too!!!

Melinda,
You are correct! And yes, they do seem to work. It would be a shame to see those faces ‘destroyed’ Thanks for playing
