Video Endorsements

I really don’t get into Politics that much, either in my daily life or on the blog, until this year.  This year something has changed.  I credit that to Obama.  As you can see…I proudly display my support for him on my blog, with a badge.

I am not going to get into a big debate today about the candidates, the issues or why I favor Obama over everyone else, but I thought I would give you a chance to look at two recent video endorsements that have surfaced for each democratic candidate.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the videos, the candidates and the issues.

Jack Nicholson  for Hillary

Well I think that’s rich about Hillary bringing the troops home, etc., since she couldn’t be bothered to read the intelligence reports before voting to send our troops to Iraq. And yes, that Joker reference is amusing! Wonder if they violated copyright laws in pulling out those clips? The second video is definitely more “real,” although I think it would be even more effective if they used ordinary citizens, rather than just celebrities. xo

What did I think of the videos? Well, hmmm…
The Jack Nicholson/Hillary one just left me shaking me head thinking – Huh? What did this have to do with ANYTHING?
The Obama one, despite knowing it was “staged”, I got all weepy choked up viewing it. I guess that makes me a sucker for song and unity and all the other themes it played on. I know, objectively, that the video was just as irrelevant to what can really be expected of a candidate, what a politician can do when they are actually in office and what they promise on the campaign trail are two different things. But still, I do think this cuts to the heart of things – I think that Obama “gets it”, what people need to work together, and I fervently hope that in some way that “fantasy” can help move the bulky government that must be dealt with to make things better in this world. Does that make any sense?

Thanks for posting these to videos! I enjoyed them both. In fact, I’m going to link to this post from my blog, and have added you to my blogroll. Whoo hoo!
It’s great to see the US so excited about this election, isn’t it?
As for me, I’ll just be happy to get a democrat back in the White House. I don’t think Nader will be able to disrupt the electoral system this time. Whoever wins will have a huge job ahead, but it’s time!
