Join your guide, an English-speaking native of Florence who has been shopping at this local market for over 10 years, as she leads you on a two-hour tour of the San Lorenzo market.

Along the way you’ll see stands serving up the popular local street food specialty lampredotto, which is made with tripe. Smell, see and touch the colorful seasonal fruits and vegetables as your guide explains how the locals prepare and use them in traditional Tuscan recipes.  Explore the countless varieties of fresh pasta.

Meet the friendly purveyors who will offer up tastings and samples of local Italian cheeses, salumi, prosciutto, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

You can follow your tour with lunch (not included in tour price) at a local trattoria, steps from the market, which serves traditional Florentine fare, including the thick and juicy Bistecca Fiorentina, a Tuscan delicacy.

Florence Wine TastingMeet your English-speaking sommelier, who is a native of Florence, at a local enoteca where she will guide you through a tasting of five different Italian wines in a fun and convivial setting.

Together, you’ll enjoy a selection of red, white and dessert wines while learning about Italian wines, with a special focus on the Tuscan region.  Selections will include:

  • Terlano, white from Alto Adige
  • Chianti, a Tuscan red
  • Nobile Montepulciano, a Tuscan red
  • Amarone, a red from Veneto
  • Vin Santo, a sweet white Tuscan dessert wine

Your tasting will be accompanied by a bruschette, salumi, local olive oil and cantucci, which will marry perfectly with your wine selections.

As a souvenir, she will provide you with a list of the wines sampled so that you can shop for your favorites when you return home!

Enjoy a fun and informative three-hour experience, which includes a visit to two chocolate shops in the Santa Croce neighborhood, tastings and a private lesson with a Master Chocolatier.

Meet your native Florentine guide at a hand selected chocolate maker’s shop that specializes in high-quality, handmade artisan chocolates, where you’ll indulge in a gourmet tasting of a varied selection of pralines along with a short introduction to the origins of chocolate and how it become so popular in Florence under the Medici family.

Your tour will continue at the laboratory of a second popular chocolate shop where you will have an exclusive lesson during which you’ll learn the secrets to making Italian chocolate and watch a demonstration of how it’s prepared.  After your lesson, you’ll enjoy another tasting of delicious, elaborately decorated, handmade creations.
